It's never too late to start strength training. Any time you start exercise you are starting your journey to a healthier, stronger, happier, and more independent you!

As we age our systems decrease, our hormone levels drop, and this makes it hard to maintain bone density, muscle and joint strength.

Any movement is great for us, however adding some strength specific training with weights and resistance builds a stronger foundation, increases bone density, increases muscle strength, joint strength, and other systems in our body improve to become more efficient. You also get the mental benefits of increasing hormones that keep you happy, motivated, confident, and improve self-esteem.

It really is the fountain of youth, if you met someone who strength trains, I bet you would be surprised at their age.

Strength training does help lengthen and improves our lives (given we don't hit bumps in our roads) research suggests leg strength is a determining factor of our life longevity. If we have stronger legs this means we are more likely to live longer.



Starting 25th March, 9.15am Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Held at Anytime Fitness, 80 Tūwharetoa St.


These are focused for beginners, if you just want to start but don't know where, or how this is the place for you


Classes are on each week, and you can start anytime, just book in with me, we will have a chat over the phone about any concerns you might have.

You do not need to be a member of the gym to attend.

Classes are 45 mins in length and include warm up, mobility, main strength focus then stretches to finish.


Special requirements or health concerns best to seek permission from your doctor before starting, this doesn't mean you can't attend, I want to help you however doctors' approval is the best suggestion first.

Each session will be coached by two trainers, Janelle and Sam, I will have small numbers between the two to ensure close attention to maintain a safe space for all.


My goal is for you to feel strong and improve your life. If there is anything you can't do because of restriction or prior injuries we can work around it easily, I want to make strength training a part of your life and want you to enjoy it.
